What a fantastic NSWJRU State Championship weekend we have just had. Nine venues around the State saw some wonderful junior Rep rugby played and the feedback has been superb.
We must firstly thank all our host Club venues and their volunteers for having us at their grounds and facilitating our signature events. Complimenting these terrific host clubs was a team of dedicated Competition Managers who acted as our match day controllers over the weekend and worked hard to make sure the use of Xplorer worked as we wanted.
These venues and Comp Managers were;
Camden Rugby Club – George Roper & Marcus Stock
Dubbo Roos Rugby Club – Ben Gregory
Orange City Junior Rugby – Penny Fisher & Ben Kooyman
West Harbour Juniors – John Glen & Phil McCrae
Oatley Juniors – Renee Park & Junior Ta’ale
Two Blues Rugby – Andrew Hutton
Lindfield Junior – Lisa Rothwell
Hunters Hill Rugby – Anthony (Marvin) Hunt
Maitland – Tony Fisher
Not to forget Kerry Brady and Gary Paton whom had a roving commission over the weekend.
We also need to thank our referees, referee coaches and 1st Aid officers without whom we would not have a carnival – These guys are the silent workers whom put in a lot of unseen work to make sure we have a safe and equitable tournament.
Also a big thanks to our sponsors and supporters, local councils and everyone who had a hand in making this weekend a success.
Lastly to the committee for all their hard work making this possible – the new model with the Country Champs and Sydney Cup was somewhat of a first for us and it involved many months of preparation to facilitate. We learnt some things we will use to make it even better in 2023. A mammoth task but was well worth it when we saw the final product over the weekend.
As you all should be aware by now the Rugby Club Foundation was by far and away the biggest supporter of NSW Juniors and the State Championships. Their investment into grassroots junior rugby is second to none and needs recognition by all and sundry. Paying for the entry costs for every team PLUS covering the vital 1st Aid and Referee costs cannot by under estimated.
