NSW Juniors are delighted to welcome the support of the NSW Positive Rugby Foundation as the naming sponsor for the 2019 NSWJRU State Championships. The Positive Rugby Foundation is the official charity and social impact program of NSW Rugby and exists to make a positive difference to the health and well being of rugby communities in NSW as well asenable more people to experience the core values, life skills and opportunities unique to rugby.
The Positive Rugby Foundation 2019 NSWJRU State Championships will take place from the 8th to 10th June, involving over 2500 junior rugby players competing across six NSW locations.
“The Positive Rugby Foundation is delighted to be supporting this important junior rugby event, which brings together all members of the local rugby community including players, coaches, referees, parents, and volunteers. From the beach to the bush, the State Championships weekend is a wonderful celebration of community rugby,” said Greg Mumm, Head of the Positive Rugby Foundation.
“We are committed to seeing junior club rugby thrive across NSW and are delighted to support the ongoing success of the Junior State Champs through this sponsorship,” he added.
The Positive Rugby Foundation 2019 NSWJRU State Championships represents the first step in the NSW Junior Representative Pathway. Following the three-day competition, the best U14, U15, U16 and U17 boys will have the opportunity to be selected for higher honours and compete in follow up tournaments.
The Positive Rugby Foundation support of the NSW Junior Rugby Union also extends to its naming sponsorship of the two follow-up representative tournaments: the Positive Rugby Foundation 2019 NSWJRU Regionals in July, where players compete to be selected into the Sydney Junior Rugby Union representative team and the Positive Rugby Foundation 2019 NSWJRU City vs Country fixture.
“This sponsorship support from the Positive Rugby Foundation helps enormously with ensuring our junior rugby club players, coaches and referees have a robust representative pathway going forward,” explained Ben Gregory President, NSW Junior Rugby Union.
“It is great to see first-hand the impact of NSW Rugby’s new initiative in setting up the Positive Rugby Foundation to raise funds through private donations and corporate partnerships, so that more money can be invested into grass roots rugby,” added Gregory.
The NSW Positive Rugby Foundation was established by NSW Rugby in 2018 and raises funds through Private Coterie groups as well as Government, Corporate and Philanthropic partnerships.
The Positive Rugby Foundation has identified six fundraising and investment causes: Schools& Juniors, Country/ Regional development, Elite Youth Development, Women’s Rugby, Indigenous Programs and Initiatives and Western Sydney Development
Each cause has a Coterie, which is a group of like-minded individuals passionate about their cause and willing to provide funds and leverage their networks to support the growth and long terms success of rugby. All funds raised through the Coterie groups are held by The Australian Sports Foundation and only released into a suitable program when approved by the NSW Positive Rugby Foundation Advisory Board.
