It has taken a while be we can now confirm our 2023 Rugby Club Foundation NSW Junior State Championship host venues. This year has been the most difficult I can recall in sorting out host venues. We did take heed of the survey results that you’d like more championships at Country venues but the FIFA women’s World Cup and clashes with other championships on the same weekend has meant that we either couldn’t get enough fields, accommodation or host club staffing to facilitate holding the champs in many of our regional venues.
But one big positive is having support of The Rugby Club Foundation again in 2023.. Their generous support of grassroots junior rugby is huge and it makes a massive difference in many of our Zones and Districts to be able to offer these pathways to their players. So we'd like to again express our gratitude to Angus and the rest of the Rugby Club Foundation Board for their ongoing support.
There is still some one hole we are negotiating through at the moment..
So at the moment the 2023 landscape looks like this;
State Champs - June Long Weekend (10th – 12th June)
NSWJRU Regionals (1st & 2nd July)
SJRU U12 Development Gala (8th & 9th July) for 2nd Boys Rep sides and for U12 Girls Development sides – Country teams are welcome in both of these.
NSWJRU State Gala for U10 & U11 (15th & 16th July)
NSWJRU City vs Country Carnival (23rd July)
We’ll come back with the other venue as soon as it is confirmed.
